Imagine being one of the pioneers of kombucha in Singapore. Imagine being a certified Tea Sommelier and using only the best organic ingredients, only to see homebrewers with little to no regard to food safety protocols swarm the market and take away your customers.
This was the situation of Anna (names changed to protect the privacy of the real entrepreneur in the small Singapore market) when she approached us to get strategic help to grow her sales and market share.
Her business had been humming along for the past few years and developed a very loyal customer base, but she wanted to be able to quit her day job and expand her production facility, so she needed to scale her sales.
Understanding Anna’s situation and desire for improvement, we started by auditing the website and online presence. Her Shopify website was functional, but the homepage and the product pages needed some love and conversion rate optimization action – which we provided through a VIP Shopify Session.
After optimising the website and suggesting she create more product combinations and bigger bundles with 6, 30 and 90 bottles, we were ready to start her ads!
For Anna, we only used Google Ads because we knew this was going to be the most profitable channel to deliver customers and not just “browsers”.
Thanks to our audit, we already knew what organic searches that their website didn’t rank high enough for, so our ads were focused on that.
After an initial testing period of 2-6 weeks, we narrowed the campaign down to the top 3 keywords that were generating 90% of the conversions.
The cost-per-conversion in the first month was $5, for an average order of $50-$70.
CTR was improving steadily every week, as we cut down keywords and tweaked the ads – going from the initial 2-5% to a mindblowing 15-20%!
After a few months, the cost per conversion went down even further to less than $2. Even though the campaigns were generating only 20-45 clicks per month, since the conversion rate was so high, it means that Anna was earning $2000+ with a spend of $30-45!
By understanding the needs of a small, high-quality business owner and applying our expertise in e-commerce and paid advertising, we were able to give Anna the confidence (and the extra cash flow!) to expand to a bigger facility.
She now has clarity on her marketing ROI, and additional sales every month.
